The Production Control and Scheduling Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products. Key responsibilities include managing work‑in‑progress (WIP), resolving material shortages, maintaining ERP/MRP system accuracy, and collaborating across departments to optimize production flow. The specialist plays a key role in aligning labor, materials, and equipment with production demands while supporting lean manufacturing initiatives.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities Production Scheduling & Execution
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules aligned with customer demand and labor capacity.
- Release and track shop orders, ensuring readiness of materials, documentation, and equipment.
- Monitor TA‑KT time and adjust schedules to maintain production rhythm.
- Support and maintain an on‑time delivery rate of over 90% for customer critical orders.
- Track deliverables through all manufacturing areas to ensure on‑time completion.
- Communicate and elevate production issues to appropriate contacts for resolution.
- Coordinate with engineering and supply chain teams to resolve design and material issues.
- Accurately update ERP (IFS) and supplemental scheduling systems with production status and notes.
- Assist with reporting data on labor and overtime needs, production statistics, and equipment breakdowns.
- Maintain data integrity and transparency across systems and stakeholders.
- Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages during production.
- Aggressively track and resolve component and sub‑assembly shortages.
- Collaborate with supply chain to ensure timely availability of parts.
- Attend planning and supply meetings to review performance and align priorities.
- Work closely with operations, engineering, and project management teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools and methodologies.
- Associate’s Degree, Technical Certificate or APICS CPIM Certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production planning environment.
- Familiarity with ERP (IFS) and MES systems.
- Working knowledge of MS365 programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power
BI, CoPilot, etc.). - Ability to plan labor and equipment capacity details in a complex production floor environment.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Training abilities – ability to train staff through coaching, OJT or classroom settings.
