Job DescriptionAssists with planning, organizing, and carrying out activities related to surgery scheduling and block utilization. Supports continued education for associates regarding the scheduling process and departmental goals. Other duties as assigned. Monitors and reports on block time utilization to ensure efficient use of resources. Provides monthly and on-demand reports from operating room schedule/log information accurately and timely. Serves as the primary resource for scheduling-related questions and conflicts within the surgical unit.
Collaborates with physician offices to ensure accurate and convenient scheduling of surgical cases. Conveys surgeon requests and preferences to the scheduling team. Coordinates patient arrival times and other pertinent information with ancillary departments, including pre-surgery clinic, ACC, PACU, and Radiology. Ensures adherence to established protocols and standards to support high-quality patient care. Coordinates the scheduling of surgical procedures to ensure optimal use of operating room time and resources.
Communicates effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure accurate information. Inputs patient financial and demographic information for registration and scheduling purposes.
