Job Description

Promotes staff development through patient care assignments, acting as a clinical resource, identifying educational needs, and ensuring attendance at educational in-services. Assists in completing, monitoring, and evaluating unit-based Performance Improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Communicates courteously with internal and external customers in person or on the telephone. Demonstrates respect for co-workers and develops positive working relationships with other departments.

Manages patient flow by promoting timely patient placement according to hospital policy for admission, discharge, and transfer. Assists staff in the delivery of patient care and serves as a resource person to nurses, surgical technicians, and physicians. Monitors staff compliance with customer service behaviors and reinforces hospital goals for service management. Assists the Nurse Leader or designee with updates and maintains unit records, reports, and forms.

Prepares daily shift assignments, distributing personnel equitably and appropriately to match patient needs with staff skills. Participates in peer interviewing, peer review process, and monthly staff meetings for the assigned unit. Assists in preparing monthly schedules and provides required documentation for personnel files in a timely manner. Educates staff on incident reporting and ensures reportable events are properly reported to Risk Management.

High School Grad or Equiv (Required) ABSA Surgical Assistant (SA) - EV Accredited Issuing Body, Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) - RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement, Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) - EV Accredited Issuing Body, NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) - EV Accredited Issuing Body

Pay Range

$31.55 - $58.69
