** Computational Fluid Dynamics and Aerodynamics Engineer
** based in
** Concord, NC**.The
** Computational Fluid Dynamics and Aerodynamics Enginee
** r oversees NASCAR’s computational fluid dynamics (CFD) initiatives, running simulations from CAD model creation through post-processing. The role also involves producing detailed analytical reports and supporting wind tunnel testing for research and development efforts and new vehicle submissions.
** Duties include but are not limited to:
*** Lead the CFD program in collaboration with Total Sim USA, managing aero team concepts and requests from CAD through post-processing.
* Maintain CFD models for all three NASCAR national series, supporting performance evaluation, liftoff analysis, and thermal studies.
* Assist with R&D wind tunnel testing, including vehicle preparation, prototype part fabrication, and data analysis.
* Support the new vehicle submission process.
* Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
* Travel approximately 10%, including some weekends.
** Required skills / experience:*
* * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s degree preferred) and 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with CATIA, Beta CAE ANSA, Open Foam, Siemens STAR-CCM+, Para View, or similar tools is highly desirable.
* Background in automotive aerodynamics—especially high-performance or racing vehicles—is preferred.
* Strong interest in race car aerodynamics, CFD, and the role aerodynamics plays from single-vehicle performance to full-field behavior.
* Solid fundamentals in aerodynamics and CFD, including lift and drag, ground effects, and numerical simulation methods.
* Strong ability to interpret wind tunnel and on-car data.
