Reporting Structure: Department Chair, Criminal Justice

Division: College of Arts and Humanities

Job Summary

Adjunct faculty are responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate Criminal Justice courses in face‑to‑face, hybrid, or online formats. Candidates must demonstrate subject‑matter expertise, effective teaching practices, and a commitment to student success.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned Criminal Justice courses
  • Prepare syllabi and course materials aligned with departmental standards
  • Utilize the institution’s Learning Management System
  • Maintain accurate records of grades and attendance
  • Provide timely feedback and hold required office hours
  • Comply with university policies and academic integrity standards
Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Criminal Justice
  • College‑level teaching experience or relevant professional experience in the field
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education
  • Doctoral degree in Criminal Justice or related discipline
  • Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses
  • Expertise in areas such as Criminology, Corrections, Policing, Criminal Law, Research, Methods, Juvenile Justice, or Criminal Justice Reform
Physical Requirements
  • Working environment is a normal business office setting
  • Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity
  • Must be mobile throughout the campus
  • Typically the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items
