This position serves as an OPS Health Support Technician on the School-Based Sealant Program. This position does not require any dental certifications or training. This position is under the general supervision of the Public Health Services Manager- B SES in the dental outreach program and provides professional support and technical assistance to staff, community agencies and the general public.
This position will be assigned to the School Based Sealant Program assisting the dental hygienists while they provide oral health education and preventive dental services for students in Volusia County schools, daycares, and summer programs. This position requires travel between these work sites. This position will provide education to community agencies and the public through community events and health fairs in accordance with the mission and vision of the dental program and the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County.
RequiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to coordinate schedules
- Ability to lift 30lbs or more
- Ability to provide instruction/education to patients in preventative dental health techniques
- Must have experience working with children
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must have time management skills and the ability to work independently
- Preferred:
Computer knowledge (Outlook, HMS) - Communicate effectively with people of different cultural and educational backgrounds
- Certified Dental Assistant (preferred, not required)
