Habitat for Humanity of Greater Volusia County (HFH of GVC) seeks a Full-time Construction Site Supervisor
. The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential construction with an appreciation of the Habitat model which engages volunteers and the future homeowner in the construction of the house.
- Strong background in residential construction – all phases, schedules, ability to read plans, materials procurement, oversight of sub‑contractor work, may serve as HFH of GVC’s representative during inspections, plans and coordinates inspections as needed.
- Ability to work with the Director of Operations and follow direction. Reports/answers to the Director of Operations.
- Physical ability to construct, supervise and work on all phases of construction, including the roof. Working outdoors in the elements and lifting/standing for extended periods. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds floor to waist regularly.
- Commitment to job safety with ability to teach safety procedures and lead by example.
- Responsibility for the on‑site supervision of volunteers on the construction site
- Ensures that the site is ready for volunteers – safety equipment, materials, tools/supplies.
- Ability to teach volunteers to complete specific construction phases.
- Consistent communication with all members of the Construction Team.
- Demonstrates respect and encouragement to all volunteers and to the Affiliate’s homeowners and family partners.
- Commitment to the Habitat building/renovation model which includes the management/supervision of skilled and unskilled volunteers and volunteer team leaders.
- Responsibility for accepting delivery of materials/equipment on site and signing delivery tickets.
- Excellent people skills (patience and ability to lead) working with people of all backgrounds and skill levels. Values a team approach. Results driven.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs/Excel Spreadsheets.
- High School Diploma/GED.
This is a full-time position with an estimated 40 hours weekly that will include Saturday. The hours will typically be from 7:00 am to approximately 3:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
The hourly starting wage is between $22.00 to $27.00 depending upon experience. Full-time benefits include health insurance currently paid at 90% (10% employee participation), dental coverage, life insurance and a 3% Fidelity match following a 90-day probationary period. Vacation and PTO time are provided as well. A sign-on bonus of $1,000 will apply following a successful 90-day probationary period and continued employment.
