Driver operates a truck that transports solid waste to and from specified destinations. The truck has a capacity of more than 5 tons.

• Operate a front‑end load commercial/solid waste or recycling collection truck and ancillary equipment on an assigned route to commercial container customers, while providing excellent customer service.
• Deliver solid waste and recyclables to designated disposal/recycling facilities.
• Load and unload containers using the automated front‑end loading (FEL) system for 2‑yard to 8‑yard commercial containers.
• Properly operate the joystick to control front‑loading arms and forks, avoiding contact with obstructions around the FEL container.
• Safely raise the container to unload into the truck hopper, ensuring overhead clearance and avoiding damage to structures, power lines, or trees.
• Practice proper backing procedures using cameras, ensuring backup alarms function correctly.
• Prepare, receive, and provide documentation for deliveries and pickups, maintaining timely service records.
• Load, secure, and unload the truck and follow all safety procedures at landfills and transfer stations.
• Maintain radio or telephone communications with dispatcher and supervisor for instructions or changes.
• Maintain route sheets, vehicle inspection records, and comply with all federal and state DOT regulations.
• Operate equipment to compact waste into the vehicle, using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver‑induced mechanical failures.
• Complete pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, report daily, and communicate mechanical problems immediately.
• Maintain route quality, safety, and service standards, keeping the vehicle interior and exterior clean.
• Identify and tag prohibited waste items and remove them.
• Comply with all mandatory safety meetings, briefings, operational standards, and policies; maintain a valid Texas CDL and DOT medical card.
• Report all safety and service incidents to the supervisor immediately.

• At least 3 years of satisfactory driving experience with Class A or B vehicles preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, dealing professionally with customers, dispatchers, mechanics, and other drivers.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Excellent driving skills.
• Basic computer skills: use tablets and applications.
• Pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
• Successfully complete and pass a written and road test.
• Meet all Federal & State DOT requirements.

• Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
• Must be able to climb in and out of the truck several times per day using three points of contact.
• Must be able to sit for long periods and walk short distances.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat to inspect the underside of the truck and tires for adequate inflation and potential damage.
• Must be able to work outside for short periods in all types of weather.
• Must be able to see and hear proficiently to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely.
• Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environment.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.
