Overview
Maintenance Lead Technician at Frontier Waste Solutions – a Texas‑based waste solutions provider serving residential, commercial and municipal trash and recycling needs. Since 2017 Frontier has grown its footprint across Texas and seeks a team member to help lead engineering and maintenance efforts.
Position SummaryReporting to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, the Lead Technician leads a team of technicians and provides hands‑on support for complex diagnostics and repairs on diesel and non‑diesel trucks and equipment. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform welding and fabrication for line maintenance needs.
- Lead and direct the daily work of assigned technicians.
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities to reduce equipment downtime.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic tools.
- Review and inspect repairs completed by third‑party vendors for quality and compliance.
- Step in for Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities when needed.
- Mentor and coach technicians on diagnostic and repair techniques.
- Complete required company training programs and certifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Chassis components
- Hydraulic, electrical, and control systems on refuse bodies
- Air and hydraulic braking systems
- Engine systems
- Suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems
- Heating and air conditioning systems
- Minimum of 3 years of experience on heavy equipment and truck maintenance.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Strong ability to independently inspect and repair systems on heavy trucks, including suspension, steering, brakes, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical, drivetrain, diesel emissions.
- Experience with OSHA regulations (Haz Com, Lockout/Tagout, fire protection).
- Supervisory or lead technician experience (1+ year).
- ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1–T8).
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Ability to climb, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Exposure to physical occupational risks such as cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, etc., often.
- Exposure to environment involving moving mechanical parts, fumes, dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited automotive college or technical school is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1‑T8) are a plus but not required.
