Description:

Position Summary:

Responsible for daily work at sites in and around Ohio, including travel arrangements and on-time start of work. Work includes plumbing, piping, sprinkler and heating systems, which includes coordination, installation and repair of sanitary, storm, water, oil and gas fixtures and equipment for mechanical systems. Reads and understands blueprints, communicates effectively with all personnel on the job-site including sub-contractors, and collaborates with other departments and divisions.

Represents TP Mechanical Contractors professionally. May accept direction, lead and delegate work. Will typically run work over $5 million.

Responsibilities And Duties
  • Responsible for all on-site activity regarding manpower, materials and scheduling. Acts as the point of contact for the customer/general contractor/owner.
  • Ensure safety is the top priority on the job-site. Conduct pre-safety meetings before job begins as well as weekly safety reports and toolbox talks. Must have completed OSHA 30-hour training at a minimum.
  • Conduct appropriate pre-planning for new jobs, including reviewing plans and specs, identifying pre-fab opportunities, and understanding the scope of work. Plan material take-offs, crew size, and tools/equipment needed.
  • Direct all coordination issues. Review drawings with CAD designer before printing and sign off on those drawings. Review and sign off on all drawings going to the FAB shop. Attend all coordination meetings involving our scope of work.
  • Minimize downtime by scheduling work for employees, other trades and subs. Layout work for the crew at least one week in advance. Ensure tools, equipment and materials are on-site when needed and returned when not needed. Maintain a contingency plan to keep the crew productive.
  • Ensure productivity standards are met or exceeded by comparing estimates to actual installation. Utilize the Four-Week Look Ahead and set goals for the team, rewarding when goals are met.
  • Handle all orders and deliveries, order only what is needed, minimize returns. Follow up on back orders and release POs as needed. Order materials by area using the Bag and Tag method and maintain an updated submittal log.
  • Communicate at least once per week with the Project Manager regarding productivity, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and manpower issues.
  • Inspect the job daily to assess progress, quality and safety.
  • Manage personnel, subs and vendors, building teamwork and morale through fair and honest decision making.
  • Close out each job by ensuring final testing is complete, startup of equipment and demonstration is signed off on a company form by the owner, and turned over to the Project Manager. Complete valve tag chart and stenciling and ensure as-built drawings are complete and turned over. Complete punch list and obtain owner sign-off.
  • Demobilize each site by returning excess material to suppliers (provide a list to the Project Manager) and cleaning trailers (sweep and mop office trailer).
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Experience/Qualifications

    Required:
  • Minimum 10 years commercial experience in field plumbing, sprinkler or heating operations.
  • Stable work history.

  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
  • Ability to fabricate offsets.
  • Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
  • Able to do basic take-offs
  • Able to install equipment
  • Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
  • Good communication skills
  • Good math skills
  • Education:
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Trade School a plus
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Eyesight correctable to 20/50
  • Able to work long hours on feet.
  • Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds
  • Able to perform shift work
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must not be afraid of heights
  • Special Requirements:
  • Valid Driver s License
  • State/Journeyman Trade License
  • Must provide their own basic hand tools
  • Able to operate heavy machinery
  • CPR certification
  • OSHA 30 certification
