SUMMARYOF JOB
Grow sales profitably through the accurate and timely quoting of new projects by working closely with customers, account managers and project managers. Compiles, analyzes and reports on all quotes in order to drive continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Quoting Projects:- Identifies labor, material and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents utilizing our “Labor Estimating Worksheet”
- Prepares and submits quotes to Account Managers and customers based upon analyzing proposals, requirements and by prequalifying requests
- Responds in a timely manner to telephone calls, emails and RFQ’s from customers and potential customers, Account Managers, website, or e‑mails
- Ensures that work meets or exceeds our profitability goals
- Recognizes and communicates large opportunities to the Account Manager and the organization
- Reviews specifications, blueprints, and parts; estimating labor and set‑up to process work; and obtaining the value to the customer
- Allocates resources to opportunities based on attractiveness ratings
- Tracks and maintains cost/pricing information, compiling database for future reference
- Develops analytical tools to enable more efficient manners of accurately quoting projects Recommends changes to current estimating techniques as required
- Works on liability issues with sales personnel and customers when issue is the result of pricing or onboarding concerns
- Serves as the gatekeeper determining what projects to accept and which ones to reject
- Identifies customer needs and budget requirements and facilitates the development of a customer‑specific solution
- Communicates customer requirements to the internal team (including quality requirements, budget, and delivery needs)
- Associate’s degree or higher with technical or business degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in estimating and sales
- Basic understanding of coating offerings and their engineering functionality preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and industry specifications
- Demonstrated history of quickly learning new technology
- Experience in metal finishing and machining industry a plus
- Must have a valid Driver’s license and satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance
- Independent performer, driven to achieve results
- Ability to absorb and analyze large amounts of technical information
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and communicate ideas and results
- Strong listening, communication, and time management skills
- Proven track record of success
- Working closely with others within the company
- Estimating to be 60% of the day, 25% phone calls and emails, 15% project management
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access. Microsoft CRM experience helpful

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to dangerous chemicals, including exposure to fumes or airborne particles below OSHA permissible limits. Frequently exposed to high heat and humid conditions. Employee will be frequently exposed to loud sounds, below the OSHA permissible limits.
