Stepdown Unit Nurse; RN in Dayton, OH

Position: Stepdown Unit Nurse (RN) in Dayton, OH
Provide high-quality care in a specialized Stepdown nursing role focused on neuro, cardiac, renal, and med/surg patients in a dynamic 30-bed unit environment. This position requires proficiency in managing patients who need close monitoring post-cardiac catheterization, stable arrhythmias, post-pacemaker care, syncope, and chronic renal failure. Shift hours are 12-hour nights working every other weekend and every other holiday.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Current RN license in a Compact state or the state of practice.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; acute care hospital experience preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required.
• Neuro experience highly preferred, including comfort with NIHSS.
• Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide available).
• Knowledge of administering IV BP medications, managing drips such as Heparin, and oxygen delivery modalities including stable trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow oxygen up to 6L.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EPIC preferred).

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans.
• Safely administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Serve as a liaison for interdisciplinary care coordination and patient advocacy.
• Manage complex clinical conditions including multi-system organ failure and stroke.
• Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety standards.
• Maintain professionalism, clinical competence, and patient-centered communication.

• May encounter physical and verbal challenges; must employ conflict resilience and self-care strategies.
• Use of personal protective equipment and adherence to infection control protocols essential.
