Role Overview: If you are an exceptional and experienced grant professional who thrives on leading strategy, mentoring a high-performing team, and securing transformative funding, you may be our next Director of Grants & Foundation Relations. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of the grant life cycle while leading and developing the grants team to achieve ambitious revenue goals. The Director of Grants will establish clear key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational priorities, drive a strategic approach to institutional fundraising, and ensure the development of compelling, competitive proposals.

This leader will also cultivate and maintain strong relationships with foundations and other institutional funders, positioning the organization for sustained philanthropic investment and long-term impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the grants team, providing supervision, mentorship, and professional development to ensure high-quality proposal development, reporting, and stewardship. Establish clear roles, workflows, and performance expectations to support a high-performing grants team.
  • Oversee all aspects of the grant life cycle, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, reporting, and stewardship. Collaborate with PRG staff to gather programmatic information and background materials for proposals, funder updates, and grant reports. Guide the development of competitive proposals and serve as the lead strategist and writer for national grants and major regional opportunities.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for grant activity and revenue to ensure alignment with PRG’s fundraising goals and strategic priorities. Contribute to organizational initiatives related to goal setting and the development of objectives that advance PRG’s mission.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for grant-funded programs. In partnership with the Director of Programming, support the collection, tracking, and analysis of demographic, programmatic, and impact data, contributing to PRG’s broader data collection and analysis plan and ensuring strong data integration in grant applications and reports.
  • Develop compelling case statements and strategic funding proposals for new initiatives and priority programs. Partner with senior leadership to identify funding opportunities and establish short- and long-term institutional fundraising strategies that support organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Oversee the management of the grants calendar and tracking systems to ensure timely submission of applications and reports. Maintain and enhance PRG’s historical grant tracking system to ensure all proposal materials, communications, and award or declination records are accurate, organized, and accessible.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective foundation and institutional funders. Create meaningful opportunities for funder engagement, including coordinating meetings, calls, site visits, and updates that deepen investment in PRG’s work.
  • Lead efforts to achieve annual revenue goals for corporate and foundation giving, as established through strategic planning, and regularly report on progress, pipeline development, and funding outcomes.
