Good Neighbor House is a faith‑based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families experiencing poverty, food insecurity, and housing instability. Our mission is to provide practical support, resources, and guidance while treating every person with dignity, respect, and hope. We serve the Dayton community, including low‑income families, seniors on fixed incomes, and vulnerable adults, many of whom face multiple barriers such as unemployment, underemployment, limited access to healthcare, and social isolation.
At GNH, we provide immediate assistance through food distribution, essential household items, and emergency support, while also addressing long‑term needs through resource referrals, community partnerships, and programs that promote self‑sufficiency. Our work is rooted in faith and compassion, emphasizing not only the physical needs of our neighbors but also the restoration of hope and opportunity. To better meet the growing needs of our community, GNH is expanding its facility, allowing us to serve more individuals with increased efficiency, privacy, and safety.
This expansion, combined with strengthened organizational systems, enables us to provide sustainable services and programs that help clients move from crisis to stability. Through volunteers, staff, and partners, we foster an environment where collaboration, care, and empowerment thrive. Good Neighbor House is a place where neighbors in need are supported, families are strengthened, and individuals are guided toward lasting stability and opportunity, ensuring no one in our community is left unseen or unsupported.
Duties
The VISTA member will enhance Good Neighbor House's ability to serve the community by creating systems for volunteer engagement, resource coordination, data collection, and community partnerships. They will search and navigate grant opportunities, collaborate with staff to plan facility expansion, and document procedures to ensure lasting organizational capacity. The member will empower our goal that our neighbors achieve stability and self‑sufficiency.
