Overview
The University of Dayton’s Office of Energy and Sustainability (OES) leads initiatives in sustainability, food access, and experiential learning. OES manages Flyer Farm, an urban agriculture program that grows fresh produce for students and local partners, engages volunteers, and supports campus composting. The program builds skills in gardening, food distribution, volunteer coordination, and sustainability while collaborating with campus and community partners to meet local food needs.
An Ameri Corps VISTA member will expand volunteer systems, improve food distribution strategies, and track and share program impact, strengthening Flyer Farm’s capacity and long‑term influence on the University of Dayton and the Greater Dayton communities.
The Ameri Corps VISTA member will strengthen the capacity of the University of Dayton’s Flyer Farm urban agriculture program. They will develop systems to track harvests, food donations, and volunteer engagement, strengthening impact storytelling and reporting. Expanding and coordinating a structured volunteer pipeline, they will improve food access and distribution strategies in collaboration with campus and community partners.
This role offers hands‑on experience in program management, data tracking, and community engagement, while growing the program’s long‑term impact on local food insecurity.
