Professional level in program administration and education under the general supervision of the Community Outreach and Education Administrator requiring working knowledge of program development, scheduling, coordination, promotion and presentation related to recycling, reuse, reduce, composting, waste reduction, litter prevention, water services, and environmental sustainability concepts in to aid program outreach effectiveness of Montgomery County Environmental Services and the Montgomery County Solid Waste Management District in conjunction with schools, community groups, government agencies and the general public.
Performs the material and substantial duties of the classification more than 50% of the time.
Manages, plans, develops, schedules, coordinates and promotes recycling, reuse, reduce, composting, zero waste principles and practices, litter prevention, water services, and environmental sustainability education events and activities. Works with community groups, schools, governments, businesses, and other organizations to coordinate these activities. Designs, develops and prepares materials; oversees preparation, implementation, and communication for each event. Initiates contact with interested parties, writes program policies and procedures for recycling, reuse, reduce, composting, waste reduction, litter prevention, water services and environmental sustainability education, and other community projects.
Assists other Program Specialists and Community Outreach and Education Administrator with program scheduling, coordinating, preparing materials and promoting various events and activities related to recycling, reuse, reduce, composting, zero waste, litter prevention, water services, and sustainability.
(Performs Related Duties as Required)
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Environmental Studies, Education or Public Relations; OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the minimum class requirements.
Driving RequirementMust maintain a current, valid United States driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
