Position Summary

K , Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Action Officer/Assistant to provide direct support to the Senior Portfolio Manager across a wide range of program and portfolio management activities. This role is ideal for a mid- to junior-level professional who understands the fundamentals of defense contracting and project management and is eager to grow under mentorship. The Action Officer will serve as a critical enabler for day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth coordination, timely execution of tasks, and high-quality communication across the portfolio.

This position requires strong organizational skills, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced defense environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio & Program Support
    • Assist with portfolio-level tracking, reporting, and documentation across multiple task orders and work streams.
    • Support development and maintenance of program schedules, action trackers, risk logs, and deliverable matrices.
    • Help prepare inputs for monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc program reviews.
  • Administrative & Operational Support
    • Manage email traffic, taskers, and calendar coordination for the Senior Portfolio Manager.
    • Draft, route, and track internal and external correspondence.
    • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, capture meeting minutes, and track action items.
  • Security & Contracting Support
    • Assist with DD254 processing, updates, and coordination with security teams.
    • Support contract documentation, data calls, and compliance activities.
    • Maintain awareness of contract requirements, deliverables, and reporting timelines.
  • Communications & Deliverables
    • Develop high-quality slides, briefings, and reports for leadership and customer engagements.
    • Push out required training notifications, compliance reminders, and portfolio-wide communications.
    • Maintain shared repositories, document libraries, and version control.
  • Team Coordination
    • Support onboarding activities for new team members.
    • Help drive consistency and standardization across the portfolio.
  • Work Environment
    • Location: On-site (Dayton, OH)
    • Travel Requirements: None
    • Working Hours: Standard - Core hours 0800 - 1500
    Qualifications Required
    • 2-5 years of experience supporting DoD, defense contracting, or government programs.
    • Familiarity with project management principles (e.g., scheduling, risk, reporting).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
    • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
    Desired
    • Experience with DD254 processes or security documentation.
    • Exposure to contract management, task order execution, or PMO environments.
    • Interest in professional development and willingness to grow into increased responsibility.
