The full performance level class works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and requires thorough knowledge of occupational therapy. The role involves assessing clients' functioning, providing and coordinating individual or group occupational therapy treatments to improve, restore, or compensate for physical, psychosocial, or developmental functions. The Occupational Therapist supervises assigned staff and delivers services across various settings, including day programs.
Key responsibilities include collaborating as part of an interdisciplinary team, establishing caseloads based on specific needs, providing and monitoring individualized plans, documenting interactions and evaluations, and participating in conferences. The therapist also recommends adaptive equipment and materials, maintains records, and stays current with professional knowledge through training and reading.
This role requires supervising staff, performing assessments, and preparing reports. The therapist must have a valid Ohio Occupational Therapist License, one year of experience with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, a BS Degree in Occupational Therapy, and a valid Ohio Driver’s License with proof of insurance. Additional requirements include First Aid certification, licensure renewal, and compliance with state regulations.
