Job DescriptionSummary: The Speech-Language Pathology Aide (SLPA) works under the supervision of a licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) to implement treatment plans for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist SLPs in conducting individual or group therapy sessions and implement treatment plans.
- Assist with speech and language screenings and evaluations, and gather data on student performance.
- Prepare rooms for therapy sessions and gather equipment.
- Communicate with students and other professionals to meet emotional needs.
- Obtain case histories and complete observation checklists.
- Manage student behavior using appropriate techniques.
- Summarize and record target behaviors during therapy.
- Organize and manage student data and records.
- Operate, program, and monitor equipment and materials.
- Provide feedback to students and caregivers and educate on exercises.
- Work with SLPs, teachers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- A master's degree (or higher) in speech‑language pathology from an accredited institution.
- An active license to practice as a speech‑language pathologist issued by the Ohio Board of Speech and Hearing Professionals.
- Passing scores on the required licensure examination (Praxis exam #5331).
- Completion of an Ohio Department of Higher Education approved school licensure program (or equivalent out‑of‑state program).
- Previous experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, compassion, patience, adaptability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate a computer.
Thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology, normal communication development, phonetics, developmental psychology, various disabilities in school children, speech‑language disorders, and therapeutic interventions.

Physical Demands- Lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Sit for extended periods.
- Communicate orally and in writing.
- Perform basic life functions (kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, repetitive motion).
- Hand and finger dexterity for computer input/output.
- Express and exchange ideas by spoken word.
- Interact with public and staff.

- High‑traffic indoor environment.
- Flexible hours as needed.
- Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license.
