Sr. Payroll / Payroll Tax Specialist – Hybrid (Dayton, OH)
BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Sr. Payroll / Payroll Tax Specialist for an exciting contract opportunity in Dayton, OH (Hybrid).
- Location: Dayton, OH (Hybrid)
- Start Date: ASAP (subject to change)
- Job Type: Full-Time (40+ hours/week) – Contract
- Pay Rate: $35/hr
- Reason: Special Project
- Process payroll using ADP, Smart Compliance, WFN, and Workday platforms.
- Manage multi-state and international payroll tax compliance
, filings, and reconciliations. - Calculate and process retroactive tax adjustments and W-2c amendments
.
- Investigate and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, agency notices, and penalties.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for internal, external, and government audits
.
- Stay updated on payroll tax legislation and implement system/procedure updates.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and leverage technology for efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Timely federal, state, and local tax filings
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll account reconciliations
- Complete audit-ready documentation
- Accurate year-end tax reporting (W-2s, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance
, or related field (or Associate’s with 5+ years of payroll tax experience) - CPP or FPC certification preferred
- Strong experience with Workday and ADP Smart Compliance
- Full-cycle payroll processing experience
- Strong payroll tax knowledge (multi-state preferred)
- Payroll tax compliance & reconciliation
- Audit support and regulatory reporting
- Process improvement & payroll systems optimization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
