Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Accounting Manager to join our growing financial institution. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, supporting financial reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supervising accounting staff. The Accounting Manager partners with finance leadership to maintain accurate financial records and support sound financial decision-making in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, effective team leadership, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with finance leadership
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Monitor key financial data and provide analysis to support management decision-making
- Coordinate and support internal and external audit requests and regulatory examinations
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, promoting accountability and continuous improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Assist with asset/liability management (ALM), liquidity monitoring, and other financial initiatives as assigned
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience within the financial institution industry (banking, credit union, or similar)
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements within financial services
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and collaborate cross-functionally
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
