Overview

Pricing Analysts are responsible for determining the profitability of existing accounts and proposing new pricing based on analyzing various factors to determine costs and establish pricing that ensures proper contribution.

Responsibilities

• Analyze pricing requests to approve profitable accounts and deny unprofitable ones
• Perform 90-day audits of accounts
• Manage and review expiring tariffs
• Generate profitability reports for account managers and terminals
• Conduct competitive rate comparisons
• Understand transportation contracts
• Respond to inquiries regarding quotes, invoice reductions, and tariff/contract publications from internal and external customers
• Review contract verbiage for new pricing proposals and coordinate with Legal if needed
• Report data on approved pricing and submitted profiles
• Obtain credit scores for necessary customers
• Calculate shipment costs to determine revenue needs for volume quotes
• Collaborate closely with account managers, service center managers, regional sales directors, and other departments
• Understand rate structures, discounts, FAK, minimum charges, accessorials, fuel surcharges, and rebates, and their impact on profitability
• Formulate, interpret, or implement pricing policies and practices
• Lead major pricing assignments and negotiate significant pricing matters
• Provide expert pricing advice to management
• Monitor service center performance and set improvement goals
• Assist with responses to the pricing group email and support team projects
• Complete special projects as assigned and seek process improvements

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math skills
• Fluency in English
