Systems Engineer

Sinclair Community College’s Information Technology department is currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Systems Engineer. This position provides and maintains a wide range of Information Technology services for faculty, staff, and students. Platforms include Microsoft Windows Server, Linux and Apple Systems. This position also manages enterprise storage, collaborates on infrastructure security and manages virtual environments using VMWare and Prox Mox.

Services include enterprise messaging, Colleague ERP , file, web, SQL and LDAP services. Employees in this position are also required to stay current on various technologies and to look for ways these technologies can be used to enhance business processes and student learning.

The salary for this position begins at $58,491.00 and is commensurate with education and experience.

• Minimum of an associate’s degree in computer information systems or industry recognized certifications with two years’ work experience as a systems engineer required OR a minimum of a high school diploma with 5 years’ work experience as a systems engineer required
• Current working knowledge and/or experience in Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, and/or Linux server operating systems required
• Current working knowledge in the following areas preferred:
  • VMware and Citrix Server
    -Virtualization Platforms
  • SAN
    -based storage arrays
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Microsoft SQL database management
  • Learning Management Systems
  • Web Server Technologies
  • Web-Based Learning Tools
  • Single Sign-On applications
  • Digital Asset Management Systems
  • Disaster recovery processes
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while providing great attention to detail and meeting all prescribed deadlines required
• Professional communication skills to include but not limited to oral and written required
• First shift position with flexibility may be needed
• Employees in this position participate in a 24-7 on-call rotation every 5 weeks required
• Access to reliable transportation or ability to have transportation provided at all times in order to commute between multiple sites required
