SummaryThe Ash Group is hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our client a high‑tech aerospace and defense contractor delivering complex technology solutions for national security and space exploration. This is an Onsite 6‑month contract role based in Dayton, OH
, offering a pay rate of $72.00 per hour. As part of the Aircraft Design Program
, you will be instrumental in developing next‑generation aviation systems, structures, and mission payloads for the UJTS program
.
- Compensation: $72.00 per hour.

- Duration: 6‑month contract.
- Location: Onsite in Dayton, OH.
- Lead the design, development, and testing of complex aerodynamic components and aircraft structures from concept through certification.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across aerodynamics, propulsion, and avionics to ensure seamless system integration and production readiness.
- Perform detailed analysis and design of new products and processes throughout the entire product lifecycle, including advanced mission payloads.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure high‑precision manufacturing and assembly of aircraft components.
- Support engineering simulations, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Thermal Analysis, to validate structural integrity and performance.
- Oversee material and hardware selection, ensuring compliance with rigorous aerospace industry standards and production processes.
- Extensive
Experience:
10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, specifically within the Aerospace and Defense industry. - Technical Proficiency:
Mastery of Computer‑Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and industry‑standard mechanical design principles. - Precision Engineering:
Advanced understanding of applying and interpreting GD&T per ASME Y14.5. - Design Innovation:
Practical knowledge of Parametric Design and Model‑Based Definition (MBD) for complex structural systems. - Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
