Job Brief

Biomechanics Computational Modeler

DCS Air and Space Technology sector is seeking a Biomechanics Computational Modeler to support the Biodynamics Group within AFRL at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. The Biodynamics Group is responsible for assessing the human response and injury tolerance of pilots and aircrew to impacts, ejections, and high-G events.

Essential Job Functions
  • Use of dynamic modeling programs such as LS-DYNA for the analysis of injury and determining injury thresholds.
  • Analyzing and modeling movement/kinematic data.
  • Engage in physical injury biomechanics research.
  • Interaction with human subjects and instrumented crash test dummies.
  • Engage in PMHS research.
  • Capable in Solidworks and CAD software for the design of test fixtures.
  • Familiarity with TEMA and video analysis software.
  • Finite Element Modeling using LS-DYNA relating to occupant safety.
  • Analysis utilizing high fidelity Finite Element human body models (GHBMC, THUMS or equivalent).
  • Application of biomechanical sensors and data processing requirements.
Required Skills
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level DoD clearance.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills
  • Graduate degree desirable.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis.
  • Experience with CAD modeling software.
  • Experience in a collaborative research environment.
