Shifts available: 1st Shift: M-F 8a-5p

Job Corps’ national mission is to educate and train highly-motivated young people, ages 16-24, for successful careers in the nation’s fastest-growing industries. Here at Dayton Job Corps Center, we support their mission by teaching eligible young people, the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Students here have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years.

The program helps them to complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, provides transitional support services, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.

Responsible for providing proper guidance to students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the program, in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.

• Ensures dormitory access protocol is following during the training day.
• Assists residential staff with administrative duties.
• Guides students to achieve positive attitudes and proper behavior in dormitory living situations.
• Determines, recommends, and arranges student visits to Counselors.
• Patrols and monitors dormitories and center as required, ensuring safety and proper behavior of students; resolves potential or occurring problems.
• Assists with recreational activities for students on and off center as required.
• Recommends or requisitions supplies to meet the needs of dorm living and ensure the safety of students.
• Provides students guidance in social skills development and self-management skills.
• Maintains accountability of students and property; adheres to safety practices during the training day.
• May be assigned to prepare dormitory rooms for incoming students.
• Provide student access to dormitories during the training day as needed.
• Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.
• Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.
• Acts a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.
• Reports violations of ethical behavior.
• Suggests Opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.

Education: High school diploma or GED, associate degree in behavioral sciences preferred

Experience: Two years of related experience in counseling, social work, rehabilitation, or vocational guidance or working with youth.

• Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Computer proficiency
• I-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check

Additional Requirements: Must have valid driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
