Here at Dayton Job Corps Center, we support their mission by teaching eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Students here have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years.

The program helps them to complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, provides transitional support services, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.

Position Description Summary

Conducts and manages career technical training (CTT). Responsible for providing CTT to students in accordance with approved curricula to ensure they leave the program as graduates that attain and maintain employment.

Essential Functions
  • Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom/training environment, ensuring maximum student motivation and outcomes.
  • Integrates math, reading, and writing concepts with employability, and Career Success Standards (CSS).
  • Designs instructional areas and meets individual student needs, maintains a high degree of discipline within the training area, and submits necessary schedule change information.
  • Designs curriculum within Job Corps guidelines to ensure students’ needs are met.
  • Schedules field trips, guest speakers, workshops, and other special projects to augment CTT.
  • Develops and implements career technical skills training (CTST) projects.
  • Met with Academic Instructors to identify required skills that can be taught and reinforced by applying academic skills in a technical setting.
  • Develops and implements applied academic projects.
  • Maintains an active Industry Advisory Council membership from the industry field.
  • Submits Evaluations of Student Progress (ESPs) in a timely manner and documents student progress for inclusion on the ETA-640 profile.
  • Administers accurate completion of the Training Achievement Records (TAR) in a timely manner.
  • Documents student’s progress in case notes at least monthly and records daily attendance.
  • Completes a monthly Accommodation Effectiveness Review for each student with documented accommodation.
  • Identifies and prepares potential students for the Advanced Career Training (ACT) and Advanced (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). students with the center’s ACT process.
  • Ensure that all equipment assigned to the classroom is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition.
  • Participate in the Career Mentoring Team (CMT).
  • Provide support to the Career Development Services System (CDSS) department to ensure student job readiness.
  • Reports violations of unethical behavior.
  • Identifies and reports any environmental health and safety concerns found in the work area(s).
  • Able to maintain a 75% or higher on employee scorecard.

Requirements Required Education & Experience
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice in the center’s state.
  • One year of health care experience, preferably in a health clinic; proven experience as an RN.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a related field (required); one year of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Certifications/Competencies
    • Must meet all the other licensing requirements mandated by the state’s board of nursing for CNA.
    • Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
