Job Summary
This position will fill critical research and some teaching/mentoring needs in the Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM) within Cardio‑Renal Institute and the Department of Neuroscience, Cell Biology, and Physiology. The incumbent is expected to establish or maintain/expand an active extramurally funded research program. Expertise broadly in the cardiovascular or renal pathophysiology arena, including immunology/inflammation of cardio‑renal diseases is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications- PhD, MD or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences.
- A strong record of academic accomplishments in the cardiovascular, renal, and/or immunology/inflammatory disease disciplines.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Assistant Professor level candidates must meet all requirements above.
- Associate Professor level candidates must meet all requirements above, plus have at least four years of experience as an Assistant Professor with an exemplary scholarly portfolio and supervisory experience and meet all the Assistant Professor Promotion requirements.
- Experience in mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in the laboratory.
- Experience in teaching small group problem-based learning sessions to medical students.
- Current holder of multi‑year federal research award.
- 80% Maintain an active research program. Mentor undergraduate, graduate, and medical students in the laboratory.
- 15% Teach/mentor students within the NCBP and BSOM courses/programs.
- 5% Other duties as assigned, including service to the department, BSOM, CoSM, WSU, and to their scientific discipline.
