Astronomy - Part-Time; Adjunct Faculty

The Sinclair Astronomy Department offers students an out-of-this-world opportunity to explore the universe and understand our place in it. Using the laws of physics, chemistry, biology, and geology, astronomers study the Earth as a planet and everything beyond its atmosphere. The department prepares students with broadाडि problem‑solving skills applicable to careers in education, research, industry, and public outreach.

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
• Prepare and provide syll takım for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

• Minimum of a master’s degree in astronomy or physics required
• Minimum of 1‑2 years of teaching astronomy in different modalities required
• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
• Ability to teach in‑person and online courses required
• Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community
• Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia‑based instruction導航路節/
