Interventional Cardiologist will provide direct cardiovascular care and consultation to an adult population eligible for care at the VA medical center or at any of its subsidiary locations. The Cardiologist is responsible for a wide range of duties to ensure safe, efficient, and high quality care.

• United States Citizenship:

• Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Physical ability to perform all activities of the position without restriction, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning.

• Admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, and valvular heart disease.
• May provide care to patients in the intensive care setting.
• Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
• Perform core procedures, including femoral, brachial or radial, and axillary cannulation for diagnostic angiography or percutaneous coronary intervention; interpretation of coronary arteriograms, ventriculography, and hemodynamics; intracoronary foreign body retrieval; intracoronary infusion of pharmacological agents; intracoronary mechanical thrombectomy; intracoronary stents; intravascular imaging of coronary arteries or grafts; management of mechanical complications of percutaneous intervention; performance of balloon angioplasty, stents, and other commonly used interventional devices;
  
  use of intracoronary Doppler and flow wire (FFR); use of vasoactive agents for epicardial and microvascular spasm.
