Butler Asphalt is a family-owned, full-service construction company located in Dayton, Ohio. We’re seeking a skilled Asphalt Paving Foreman to lead a paving crew on commercial, municipal, and ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and organize asphalt paving crews on various job sites
  • Ensure work is performed according to ODOT, local municipality, and commercial specifications
  • Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints
  • Coordinate and execute job layout, including setting grades and slopes
  • Maintain accurate daily project documentation for job cost tracking and reporting
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure timely, on-budget completion
  • Enforce all safety protocols and promote a culture of safety on the job site
  • Train and mentor crew members, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, and other stakeholders
  • Attend site and company meetings as required

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in asphalt paving, preferably on commercial and/or ODOT projects
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or college coursework is a plus
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Experience with Procore, Workday, and Tena software is a plus

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Proficient in calculating material volumes and basic measurements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Computer literacy and the ability to learn construction-related software systems
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in fast-paced environments
