Staff Accountant

Software Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its corporate finance team in Dayton, Ohio. This is a newly added position designed to support ongoing growth, strengthen reporting and financial visibility, and add long-term depth to the accounting function.

This role is corporate and accrual-based (not government or fund accounting) and will work closely with a small, collaborative finance team. The Staff Accountant will gain exposure across core accounting functions, with a particular focus on revenue recognition, contract/project accounting, and financial reporting. The position follows a hybrid schedule, working in the office Monday–Wednesday and remotely Thursday and Friday.

• Perform general corporate accounting activities in an accrual-based environment
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage and reconcile Accounts Payable, including vendor communication and discrepancy resolution
• Reconcile employee expense reports and corporate credit cards
• Assist with revenue recognition, including project- or contract-based accounting
• Analyze deferred and unbilled revenue tied to contracts and deliverables
• Support financial reporting and analysis using ERP tools
• Assist with sales and use tax analysis and related filings
• Participate in cross-training across accounting functions, including A/R
• Contribute to process improvements and documentation as the team continues to scale

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of general corporate accounting experience
• Experience working in an accrual-based accounting environment
• Exposure to project-based or contract-driven revenue recognition
• Strong attention to detail and ability to explain accounting concepts clearly
• Comfortable working in a small team where responsibilities may overlap
• Advanced Excel skills

• Experience with Sage Intacct (or experience working with multiple ERP systems)
• Exposure to percent-complete or milestone-based revenue recognition
• Background in software, technology, construction, or project-based organizations
