Position: Pickleball Program Aide (2026)

Overview

Under the direction of the Community Services Supervisor and the Program Coordinator assigned to the Pickleball program, Pickleball Program Aide is responsible for assisting with organizing, planning, coordinating, promoting and instructing a variety of pickleball programming such as open play, clinics, leagues, mixers, tournaments and other events. Programming is generally offered in morning hours and/or late afternoon/evening hours. Some weekend hours may be required for various types of programming.

Hours: 5-8 hours a week (1-3 hours at a time, 1-3 times a week for 3-4 week session increments)

Status: Temporary part time, no benefits. Applicants will be screened according to experience relevant to this position. Those most qualified will be invited to an individual or small group interview.

The Program: The City offers introductory or higher level of instruction in the forms of clinics, leagues, tournaments, mixers and/or style programming.

Responsibilities

Examples of Duties

  • Assist in the development and instruction of classes, clinics, league play, mixers or tournaments
  • Maintain control of activities, following planned curriculum as directed
  • Promote good sportsmanship at all times
  • Energetic and able to lead and motivate participants, from youth to adults
  • Communicate effectively with city staff, participants of all ages and the public
  • Perform assigned duties independently and/or with minimal supervision
  • Maintain records of attendance, communicate program or facility needs
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to play pickleball at a 3.5 level or above
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of pickleball rules, regulations, and fundamentals as well as experience with equipment and maintenance
  • Experience in group leadership settings such as coaching or teaching with knowledge of group management and facilitation preferred
  • Must be able to move quickly around the facility to assist participants
Physical/Sensory Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is an active position requiring the ability to move about on foot, walking and running with frequent starts and stops; verbal and hearing skills to effectively communicate with children and other staff; visual acuity to oversee projects and make observations.

Work is done outdoors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; run; use hand, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Staff are required to follow current health guidelines and requirements to keep all staff and participants safe. Work is done both indoors and out, with exposure to varying temperatures, sun, noise, dust, pollens and slip hazards when near water. Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens when rendering first aid. Must be able to complete additional trainings, including but not limited to:
Concussion Training, Blood Borne Pathogens, Mandated Reporter, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination.
