You will be a great fit if you have experience similar to:- Document trait definitions, scoring, and trial contexts relevant to digital phenotyping.
- Identify practical challenges related to image acquisition, trait consistency, and data flow.
- Assess feasibility of capturing traits.
- Coordinate with breeders and phenotyping team members on assigned tasks.
- Image acquisition across field and greenhouse environments following defined protocols and roadmap.
- Upload and organize image datasets in the internal platforms.
- Extract traits from images.
- Review image outputs and image‑derived traits for completeness, consistency, and obvious errors.
- Flag issues related to image quality, segmentation failures, or trait outliers.
- Provide feedback to digital phenotyping teams to support pipeline improvement.
- Link image‑derived traits with ground phenotypic data.
- Evaluate whether digital traits are meaningful, repeatable, and usable across crops and trial stages.
- Integrate digital data collection into routine breeding trials.
- Summarize activities, observations, and results in concise reports or presentations.
- Contribute to short documentation or standard operating procedures (e.g., imaging guidelines, trait descriptions).
- Regular check‑ins with breeding and digital phenotyping stakeholders.
This internship is expected to last from approximately June – September 2026.
What we expect of youTo be considered, you will need:
Required
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program in Plant Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, Biology, Data Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of plant breeding, phenotyping, or agricultural research concepts.
- Comfort working with digital data, including image files and spreadsheets.
Preferred
- Exposure to image‑based data, phenotyping, or digital agriculture tools.
- Familiarity with greenhouse and field trials.
- Basic experience with data visualization or analysis tools (e.g., Excel charts, R, Python, or similar).
- Interest in digital phenotyping, plant breeding, or data‑driven agriculture.
