Under the general direction of the RCFFP Director, the Assistant Director provides leadership and oversight to the Resource Center for Family-Focused Practice, which operates with an annual budget of $5 million. This position supervises a team of Program Specialists (PES IV’s) responsible for delivering key programmatic outcomes, including curriculum development, training facilitation, and technical assistance in the realm of child welfare services.
The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to ensure high-quality service delivery, effective budget management, and adherence to contractual obligations.
This role is instrumental in setting the strategic direction of the RCFFP, monitoring project management practices, evaluating program quality, and supporting the professional growth of the Program Specialists.
This role will work collaboratively with the Director to manage RCFFP operations, oversee project management practices, evaluate the effectiveness of deliverables, and support program growth. The Assistant Director will act as a key advisor and partner to the Director in setting organizational direction and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field.
- Supervisory and management experience leading professional staff, with leadership capabilities in team development, and stakeholder engagement. Strong communication and facilitation skills and working in highly collaborative work environments that prioritize inclusive excellence.
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience in child and family serving systems, including kin-first culture, family engagement, and trauma-informed practices. Well-versed in state-level child welfare policies and practices.
- Experience in workforce development, product development, and training initiatives, with the ability to design curriculum for professional training.
- Extensive experience in leading complex project management initiatives, with a proven ability to guide teams through planning and execution phases.
- Experienced in administrative operations, budget management, financial analysis, and human resources, with a strong background in outreach, business development, and strategic partnerships.
- Skilled in coordinating multifaceted projects involving multiple stakeholders, ensuring strategic alignment and delivering well-informed recommendations to enhance resource allocation and advance organizational objectives.
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field.
- LCSW or MSW. Advanced degree in a related area.
- Demonstrated experience planning and organizing programs for adult learners. Program leadership experience in an entrepreneurial educational context.
- Experience working in highly collaborative work environments.
- Experience with industry-standard technology and data practices in business and management.
- Working knowledge of evaluation best practices in organizational development.
- Capability to chart a vision and strategy for a portfolio.
- Advanced ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
- Experience evaluating program effectiveness and implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives.
