Job Summary
Custodian / Sr. Custodian
This position will perform a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, and custodial duties in a hospital, clinic, hotel, or college campus environment. Tasks include cleaning buildings, offices, patient rooms, campus facilities, restrooms, lounges, dormitories, classrooms, auditoriums, sports facilities, hallways, exterior and other designated areas, and general maintenance across the UC Davis Campus. You may work independently or as part of a team to ensure building security.
Duties may involve operating auto scrubbers, wet vacuums, upholstery shampoo machines, carpet extractors, buffers, and other floor care equipment.

- 6 months experience performing custodial work
- Knowledge of basic materials and equipment used in custodial work
- Knowledge of cleaning solvents, soaps, waxes, and other related chemicals used in custodial work
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience with floor care equipment; auto scrubber, waxer, buffer, etc. (Sr. Custodian)
- Ability to follow all health and safety policies and procedures
- Ability to learn and practice all security procedures related to unlocking, locking, and securing buildings and keys
- Ability to resolve customers' concerns in a timely manner
UC Davis, Temporary Employment Services (TES) provides temporary staffing to UC Davis Campus and UC Davis Health in Sacramento. Titles and job locations vary depending on the assignment. TES Custodians perform cleaning, housekeeping, and custodial duties similar to those described above.

- Lift, push, pull, or move objects up to 50 lbs
- Wear and maintain approved safety equipment such as gloves and eye protection
- Stoop, bend, walk and stand for interrupted periods of time
- May work at heights up to 10 feet with a ladder
- Variable shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime; float to other units/areas/buildings
- May work alone in isolated areas, travel from building to building at night, or in high-traffic environments
- May be exposed to very sick patients and hazardous wastes (blood, body fluids, biohazard, pharmacy waste, chemo waste, needles, sharp waste)
- May work in areas where hazardous materials are present
- A valid CA Driver's License may be required
- May be required to participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System
- May be required to wear uniform and/or protective clothing and/or gear
- Responsible for following safety procedures and guidelines
- Position may be subject to background check and drug screen; employment contingent upon completion of background investigation, criminal history, identity checks, and drug screen.
- Must comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccination Programs and any applicable public health directives.
- Final candidates must disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions related to misconduct within the last seven years.
