job summary
under the general direction of the director of investigations, associate university investigators participate in the investigation of allegations that faculty, other academic appointees, staff members, and students have violated university policy. Associate university investigators may conduct sensitive, confidential, and time-sensitive investigations of moderate complexity under university policy. In that capacity, associate university investigators will conduct interviews, collect and review material evidence, and prepare high-quality written reports.
In their reports, investigators summarize and analyze the evidence, then reach preliminary factual and policy findings.
associate university investigators may additionally assist university investigators and senior university investigators in the investigation of complex matters, performing any of the following functions: document management; review and summarization of evidence; transcription; note taking; creation of visual exhibits; interviewing of ancillary witnesses; and drafting of correspondence and select portions of investigative reports.

qualifications
minimum qualifications - for full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- bachelor's degree plus two years of experience providing investigative support in administrative investigations or the equivalent.
- familiarity with the components of neutral, and well-written reports that make factual findings and discuss relevant laws or policies. Demonstrated writing skill.
- demonstrated knowledge of best practices and methodologies for conducting investigations, including interviewing witnesses and analyzing evidence.
- demonstrated oral communication abilities, including skill and experience interacting with constituents who are diverse in characteristics such as age, education level, race, ability, socioeconomic background, and gender identity and expression.
preferred qualifications
- juris doctor degree plus one year of experience conducting or supporting administrative investigations in a higher education setting or bachelor's degree plus three years of experience conducting or supporting administrative investigations in a higher education setting.
- demonstrated experience producing thorough, neutral, and well-written reports that make factual findings and discuss relevant laws or policies.
