The Business Systems Analyst 3 (LIMS Manager) is responsible for managing all aspects of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the California Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS) lab at UC Davis, including its financial system components. This role applies technical expertise and business analysis concepts to evaluate, develop, and support complex LIMS and financial operations. The incumbent will coordinate system updates, ensure documentation accuracy, validate system integration and implementation, and provide training to staff.
The LIMS Manager will work independently and collaboratively to address system, business process and financial compliance challenges, optimize workflows, and ensure regulatory adherence. #CA-AR

- Required to hold a valid California driver’s license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Laboratory Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline) or equivalent experience/training.
- 3+ years of experience managing, configuring, and supporting LIMS, financial tracking systems, or other laboratory/business systems.
- Experience analyzing and documenting complex business processes, system requirements, and user needs, and resolving workflow issues and implementing technical solutions. Experience developing and delivering training materials for end users.
- Experience with setting priorities, delegating tasks, and making sound decisions independently. Takes initiative and works efficiently and creatively by using colleagues and available resources to solve problems.
- Strong understanding of LIMS functionality, financial workflows, and integration between IT systems. Proficiency in documenting system requirements, workflows, and user procedures.
- Knowledge of business process analysis, system implementation, and IT best practices. Effective communication skills to convey technical and financial concepts to non-technical users.
- Project management skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to manage complex multi-task projects, and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Skills and ability to independently research and confidently recommend solutions to complex problems and issues.
- Experience working with financial systems, compliance requirements, and audit processes in an academic, clinical, or research setting.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and resolving competing priorities.
- Experience with SQL, scripting, or basic programming for data analysis or system customization.

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies for system development and enhancement.
