Position Overview
Tenure‑track assistant professor of African American, African Diaspora and/or African Studies at UC Davis. Start July 1, 2026.
Salary range: $109,300 to $130,600 inclusive of salary scale and off‑scale components.

We seek a scholar with an innovative publication profile or strong promise of scholarly productivity, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should possess a promise of or commitment to departmental/university collaboration as appropriate to rank. Record of publication preferred.
Our department is multidisciplinary with strengths in humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences. Faculty can seek affiliation with graduate groups within the College.
Responsibilities- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in African American, African Diaspora and/or African Studies.
- Produce scholarly research in chosen fields (e.g., Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology Studies, Legal Studies) and publish in high‑impact venues.
- Collaborate with department and broader units on teaching, research, and service initiatives.
- Engage with African American, African Diasporic, or African community organizations and movements as appropriate.
