Brief Position SummaryThe Director of Digital Insights leads the development and execution of a data-driven insights strategy to enhance the customer experience on and drive dotcom revenue growth. This role serves as a strategic partner across Marketing, Digital, CX, Category Management, and Sales, ensuring insights inform decisions that improve engagement, conversion, and loyalty.
Duties And Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive digital insights strategy aligned with business goals and revenue targets.
- Establish frameworks for measuring customer behavior, engagement, and conversion across digital touchpoints.
- Act as the digital insights hub for Marketing, Sales, Category Management, and Customer Experience (CX) teams.
- Use qualitative and quantitative research to identify pain points and opportunities in the online journey.
- Own KPIs for dotcom performance (traffic, conversion, AOV, retention, etc.).
- Lead A/B testing and influence optimization roadmaps to improve conversion, AOV, and customer satisfaction.
- Own tag management for the website.
- Partner with the Digital and Marketing teams to embed insights into site design, navigation, and personalization.
- Serve as a business partner to Category Merchandising teams, ensuring priorities are supported by strong digital experiences.
- Deliver actionable recommendations to improve conversion and ROI on digital marketing and merchandising initiatives.
- Monitor competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and market trends to identify improvement or market share capture opportunities.
- Build and mentor a team of analysts and researchers in digital analytics, customer behavior, and user experience.
- Research, procure, and implement AI tools and technologies to expand team capability, automate data analysis, and shorten insight development time frames, enabling faster, more scalable delivery of actionable insights.
- Present research, insights, and dashboards to multiple levels across the organization, including senior leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Fosters the MSC Culture within the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, Analytics, or related field.
- Eight years of progressive experience in digital analytics, eCommerce strategy, or marketing insights.
- Deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative data and how to interpret, report and craft into actionable insights.
- Expertise in analytics platforms (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics), A/B testing, and data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.).
- Demonstrated understanding of digital customer journey mapping.
- Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Strong track record building and leading high-performance teams, while fostering career growth of individuals.
- Ability to synthesize and translate customer and industry research and data into actionable insights and formulate compelling stories.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex subjects and insights to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
- MBA or advanced degree
- Experience in B2B omnichannel environments
- Industrial or manufacturing experience
- A valid driver's license may be required.
- Position requires travel on an as needed basis.
- This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information ("ITAR") and/or Controlled Unclassified Information ("CUI").
