The internship program is a rewarding and challenging development program for talented, high‑performing students. Interns are assigned to a functional area for a 10‑week assignment and work on defined projects, develop leadership skills, and interact with associates across all levels of the organization.

• Plan, execute, and complete special projects as assigned.
• Gain industry knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments.
• Develop skills needed for a career in industrial distribution.
• Support assigned manager with business projects.
• Present intern project results to business leaders.
• Perform independent research.
• Manage and maintain vendor relationships.
• Provide business assistance to various groups within the MRO BU.
• Aggregate and synthesize information from multiple data sources to create a consolidated, easy‑to‑consume view of each Business Unit’s strategic priorities.
• Design and develop a lightweight AI‑enabled solution or agent that can automatically pull, organize, and surface relevant insights for Category Managers, improving speed to insight and reducing manual research effort.
• Partner closely with Category Managers to understand key decision‑making needs, translate those needs into clear data requirements, and ensure outputs are practical, relevant, and actionable.
• Document findings, logic, and recommendations, including how the AI agent works, key data sources used, and opportunities to scale or enhance the solution for broader category strategy use.
• Work cross‑functionally with Reporting, Merchandising, & Sales Enablement teams.
• Learn and foster the MSC culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

• High school diploma required.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Excellent academic record.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office software required.
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Excellent time‑management and organizational skills required.
• Positive, high‑energy approach to assignments and willingness to learn quickly required.

• Area of study focused in business, AI, or analytics preferred.

• A valid driver’s license may be required.
• This position may require access to ITAR and/or CUI.

Compensation: Starting at $22/hr depending on candidate location and experience. The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements, and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
