BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY

The internship program is a rewarding and challenging development program for talented, high performing students. Interns are assigned to a functional area for a 10‑week assignment. Each assignment will offer the opportunity for the students to work on defined projects, develop leadership skills and interact with associates across all levels of the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, execute, and complete special projects as assigned.
  • Gain industry knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments.
  • Develop skills needed for a career in industrial distribution.
  • Support assigned manager with business project work.
  • Present intern project results to business leaders.
  • Perform independent research.
  • Manage and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Provide business assistance to various groups within the Supply Chain departments.
  • Work cross‑functionally with product management, marketing, pricing, and supply chain teams.
  • Foster the MSC culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, with a major in Industrial/Supply Chain Engineering preferred.
  • Excellent academic record.
SKILLS
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Ability to work with dashboards in Tableau/Power BI.
  • Demonstrated analytical mindset, with strong critical‑thinking and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Positive, high‑energy approach to assignments and a willingness to learn quickly.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Compensation starting at $22/hr depending on candidate location and experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
