- Demonstrates commitment to The Library’s mission and vision by actively promoting services and resources.
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, patrons, stakeholders, and the community by responding to queries in a timely manner.
- Prepares and implements library programming for all ages and diverse backgrounds based on the social service needs of the community.
- Identifies and interacts with individuals who may benefit from social service resources through providing information, support, and referrals to appropriate organizations.
- Collaborates with the Quad Cities Open Network hub to coordinate resource referrals.
- Provides consultation, training, and resources to library employees on issues related to the social service needs of patrons.
- Models to colleagues how to effectively interact with patrons experiencing life challenges.
- Helps with library outreach in the community as appropriate to promote social work services.
- Prepares reports on services provided, including statistics, outcomes, and service impacts.
- Develops partnerships and relationships with other City departments and area organizations.
- Provides information to marketing to promote community resources.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field from a college or university and professional experience working with diverse populations. Knowledge of community resources preferred but not required. Must maintain Social Worker licensure throughout employment as applicable.
Knowledge and Skills- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and diverse groups.
- Demonstrated skills in customer service and the ability to effectively problem-solve.
- Proficiency in basic computer, software, and technology tools.
- Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently.
- Knowledge of community resources and services.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with patron information and needs.
- Experience interacting with community organizations.
