Senior Merchandiser

An expanding grain company in northwestern Illinois is seeking an experienced Senior Merchandiser to lead the company’s grain merchandising and logistics coordination across a multi-location region with strong growth potential.

This role is focused on active merchandising and market execution. The successful candidate will manage the company’s futures desk and be responsible for spreads, positions, arbitrage opportunities, and overall risk management in a fast-moving and diverse market environment. The position requires constant market awareness, disciplined decision-making, and a strong understanding of cost of carry and timing.

The Senior Merchandiser will oversee merchandising and logistics for company grain flow, working closely with operations to manage space, contract balances, shipping needs, and execution. Logistics economics and destination markets are a meaningful part of the role, with frequent opportunities to capture margin through arbitrage.

While the role includes interaction with farmers and commercial partners, the primary emphasis is merchandising. This position is well suited for someone who thinks ahead, reacts quickly, and thrives in changing market conditions.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in grain merchandising or trading, with a strong working knowledge of futures markets, spreads, and risk management.
