Access Counselor – Davenport, Iowa

Join Rosecrance Behavioral Health as an Access Counselor, where you will empower individuals and families to overcome substance use and mental health challenges through compassionate, evidence‑based care.

Position Purpose

Provide client assessment and case management services, support the admission process, and assist the team in delivering addiction treatment services. Facilitate the integration of recovery into clients’ daily lives while operating within ethical, legal, and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle First Contact calls and assess appropriateness for treatment, level of care, and special needs.
  • Schedule and conduct assessment interviews with potential clients and significant others.
  • Formulate initial diagnostic impressions and recommend level‑of‑care placements.
  • Provide case management and counseling to assigned clients.
  • Utilize intervention skills to place clients in appropriate treatment services.
  • Maintain knowledge of community, school, and recovery resources for interagency referrals.
  • Coordinate networking, linkage, and follow‑up with referral sources.
  • Communicate with all staff regarding admissions and status updates.
  • Verify client medication and medical records for admission.
  • Conduct pre‑certification calls for insurance when required.
  • Assume on‑call responsibilities as scheduled.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and activities.
Qualifications & Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Addiction Studies, or related field; or equivalent experience and training preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field required, plus a tCADC/CADC license.
  • Must obtain tCADC/CADC, LBSW, LMSW, tLMHC/LMHC, or other applicable state/national licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to complete required documentation within prescribed time frames.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in assessments and admissions.
  • Skilled in individual, family, and group counseling.
  • Ability to present and coordinate lectures for clients, parents, staff, or community resources.
  • Self‑starter able to work independently and within a team.
  • Belief in Rosecrance’s mission and vision.
Job Type & Schedule

Full‑time (40 hours per week). 8‑hour shifts Monday‑Friday, 8:30 AM‑5:30 PM.

Compensation & Rewards
  • Starting Pay:
    Based on education, experience, and credentials:
    • Bachelor’s – $24.44 / hr
    • Master’s – $27.77 / hr
  • Incentives:
    • Certification (tCADC/CADC/IADC) – $1,500 annually
    • Clinical license (LMSW, LISW, tLMHC, LMHC, LMFT) – $1,800‑$5,000 annually
  • Sign‑on bonus: $8,000 for non‑license (tCADC/CADC); $10,000 for 1st or 2nd level license.
