Duties & Responsibilities

Provide leadership and supervision to school-based after school programs within the Davenport Community School District. The individual performs work of routine and moderate difficulty in recreation programs and related tasks as required. The average weekly hours are up to 15 hours at various locations throughout Davenport. The employee reports directly to Out of School Time Administrative Staff.

Examples Of Duties
  • Plan and supervise all activities during the Stepping Stones program.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience working within a school or daycare setting.
  • Possess supervisory experience.
  • Supervise direct-service program assistants, certified instructors, community agency representatives, and volunteers.
  • Engage with students in large and small groups, modeling social skills and facilitating healthy relationships.
  • Facilitate behavioral interventions according to program policies.
  • Build relationships with school personnel to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, students, families, and the public.
  • Provide direct supervision of students, ensuring health and safety at all times.
  • Prepare and facilitate academic activities supporting good work habits and critical thinking.
  • Participate in activity setup, cleanup, and maintenance of materials and space.
  • Provide information to staff, school personnel, and families.
  • Maintain detailed records, including attendance, behavior, incidents, and required paperwork.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Complete 12 hours of ongoing professional development annually.
  • Obtain DHS Child Care Assistance, Mandatory Reporter Training, and CPR/First Aid certifications within 60 days of employment.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to walk stairs, stand, walk for extended periods, lift 30 pounds, and bend or kneel.

    • Experience with district and family resource providers.
    • Punctuality and consistent attendance.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and create positive learning environments.
    • Flexibility, patience, and compassion for a diverse population.
