Hospitalist
Position Summary
The Hospitalist Physician provides comprehensive inpatient medical care to adult patients admitted to the hospital. This role focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic medical conditions, coordination of care across disciplines, and safe transitions through discharge. The hospitalist serves as the primary attending physician for hospitalized patients.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage adult inpatients with a wide range of medical conditions
- Perform admission histories and physical examinations
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
- Provide daily patient rounds and ongoing clinical assessments
- Order, interpret, and document diagnostic tests and results
- Collaborate with consulting specialists, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers regarding care plans and progress
- Coordinate discharge planning, including medication reconciliation and follow-up care
- Respond to clinical changes, emergencies, and rapid response situations as required
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts
- Inpatient hospital setting
- Day, night, or rotating shifts depending on staffing model
- Weekend and holiday coverage may be required
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
- DEA registration or eligibility
- ACLS certification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage high-acuity and complex patients
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced inpatient environment
- Acute care hospital setting
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary care model
- Exposure to a diverse inpatient population
