Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director, this position will perform duties necessary to meet the needs of the community. The duties include program development, prudent fiscal management, and general clerical duties.
Essential Duties- Assist in the delivery of special events.
- Promote, organize, and stimulate good relationships with community and other interest groups and other agencies serving the area.
- Prepare accurate and appropriate program and facility information for seasonal brochures and other miscellaneous public information.
- Solicit sponsors and donations for programs.
- Perform general clerical duties: answering telephones, taking and recording registrations, customer service, taking applications and processing payments, creating payment and programming spreadsheets, and filing.
- Maintain a clean and orderly facility.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and objectives of Parks and Recreation Program Administration.
- Ability to perform unskilled labor work and lift at least twenty-five pounds.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and environmental situations.
- Ability to use basic computer software and learn other required programs.
- Ability to perform basic mathematics and write simple reports.
- Capability to work various schedules for short- or long-term assignments.
- Ability to work harmoniously with employees, patrons, community groups, and other local government units.
- Effective time management and ability to work under deadline pressure.
- Strong communication skills in one-on-one and group settings.
- Maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
- Extensive knowledge of athletic activities, rules, regulations, and procedures for organized leagues.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Pass applicable pre-employment testing and background and credit checks.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must possess a valid State of Florida Class E driver’s license.
- First Aid and CPR Certifications are required.
- Must pass the State required background check.
- Must possess an honorable military discharge, if applicant has a service-connected status.
- Must be a United States citizen or naturalized citizen.
- Must pass a physical examination and drug urinalysis test.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony.
- Must pass a personal, professional, and moral background investigation.
- Must be able to work weekends and nights.
- Must be fluent in English; ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
