Overview

Round the Bend Farm (RTB), a Center for Restorative Community, located in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, is a 115-acre working farm and educational non-profit. We are a living laboratory that cultivates, educates, and empowers people of all ages. We are devoted to the global paradigm shift toward hope and abundance by valuing diversity, modeling nature, and redefining wealth. RTB is seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Farming Co-Manager.

Our Farming Co-Manager position requires a highly motivated and energetic individual who is passionate about RTB’s mission, local food systems, and growing nutritious foods. This teammate will participate in the overall mission of RTB, both managing and working alongside our farm crew in all aspects of growing produce, and accompanying land management, for the RTB kitchen, local sale, and our flagship partnered food donation program, Manifest Love (ML).

Responsibilities
  • Participate in all aspects of growing and harvesting agricultural produce for RTB kitchen and Manifest Love program.
  • Crop planning, seed sowing, greenhouse and nursery care, soil and field preparation, transplanting, weeding and cultivation, harvesting, seed saving, propagation, mowing and land management.
  • Efficient management and direction of RTB team and volunteers; food storage and food processing and preparation for distribution of Manifest Love food shares (harvesting, washing, bagging).
  • Support and collaborate with the Garden Manager and Distribution Manager; work with the extended RTB team and volunteers.
  • Focus on nursery and planting schedules; support the larger integrated agroforestry system; occasional perennial and tree crop care activities (harvest, mulching, pruning, etc.).
  • Winter responsibilities may include unheated greenhouse management, crop planning, food processing, supporting Manifest Love education initiatives, and other duties that support RTB.
  • Occasional liaison with the RTB educational team to support tours, demonstrations, and educational context for visiting students and the public.
  • Work primarily outdoors in fields; may include participation in community cooking, post-harvest processing and preservation, Open Farm Days, and other farm projects as needed.
  • Contribute to a 40-hour work week with flexibility around seasonal workload and hours in peak season.
Qualifications
  • At least 3+ years of intensive agriculture or commercial farming experience (regenerative agriculture preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in crop management and 2+ years of experience managing a team (teammates, volunteers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with dry farming, no-till practices, soil health, mineralization, cover cropping and/or small tractor operation is helpful.
  • Persevering work ethic, ability to work under time constraints, strong organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication with team, volunteers, and students; ability to accept direction and ask questions when unclear; ability to work independently and in diverse groups.
  • Commitment to RTB’s mission and interest in environmental and social justice issues related to local and global food systems (preference given).
  • Passion for creating and sharing healthy food and improving healthy food access and education for marginalized communities.
  • Respect and care for soil, plants, animals, and humans; personal maturity, mindfulness, dependability, and flexibility.
  • Comfort working outdoors in varied weather; valid driver’s license; ability to lift and move 50+ lbs; pass a Mandatory Criminal Record (C.O.R.I.) check.
  • Ability to work some nights and/or weekends.
Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), fully benefitted position. Annual salary is $55,120, based on a $26.50/hour rate. With benefits, the total compensation package range is approximately $80,000-$85,000. Benefits include:
