Software Engineer, DevOps
Scope:
The Intermediate or Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, coding, testing, and integrating software components within custom-engineered systems. The candidate is also responsible for leading small to medium teams in an Agile / scrum environment, including coordination with the wider project team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software component level and detailed design utilizing Unified Modelling Language (UML)
- Software implementation and unit testing
- Software integration, verification, and defect resolution
- Contributing to software design, test, maintenance, and release documentation. Depending on the successful candidate's skillset, this may be for software products including Web UI, databases, and backend services.
- Contributing to a team effort within an Agile development environment
- Support the Software and System testing groups as required to conduct software and system integration testing
Required Skills/Experience (Intermediate Developer):
- Degree level (or equivalent) in a related engineering discipline such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 4 – 7 years of C++ and/or Java experience
- Self-motivated, adaptable to change, proactive, diligent, and inter-personal skills
- Knowledge of Software Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes, and tools, specifically the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience with Linux operating systems and comfortable working on the command line
Required Skills/Experience (Senior Developer):
- 7+ years of C++ and r Java experience
- 5+ years of experience with web application development
- At least 1-2 years experience serving in some sort of team leadership capacity.
- As above for an Intermediate developer
- Experience providing mentorship and limited technical oversight of more junior team members
Desired Skills
- Experience working on customized software solutions for government organizations (any level)
- Good understanding of software configuration and build management
- A good working understanding of Microsoft office applications:
Word and Excel - Experience using software development and continuous integration tools (CI/CD) such as, but not limited to:
Jira, Azure Devops, Jenkins, static code analysis tools - Experience in web development and/or database design and administration is an asset.
- Experience in Linux system administration is also an asset
Wish List Skills
- Sonar domain knowledge or similar signal processing intensive applications
- Experience working with hardware and software emulators to conduct integration testing
- Direct experience creating automated build pipelines in tools such as Jenkins or Azure Devops
Additional Requirements
The Candidate must be capable of acquiring a Canadian / NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company
